'I am a modern abstract freelance artist specialising with ceramics, oils, pastels and mixed media. I love being creative and allowing my art take me on a adventure with the desire to deliver beautiful results.' ... Claire Byrne, Pottsville. NSW.
Claire began with ceramics when she was in her twenties at North Stradbroke Island Pottery Group. Being in such a stunning place in the world gave Claire fruition to a love of creating and sharing art. Sculptures and moulding clayis Claire's signature style and it shows that it's her choice of medium to work with. However, Claire started her artistic career with pastels and loved blending the soft colors to achieve a nice velvet finish.
After a break from art to raise a family, Claire returned to invest in her artistic development and style in her forties throughlessons in pastels andoils. Loving both mediums and achieving great results, Claire furthered her development to ceramics by attending B.I.A courses in sculpture, hand building and raku firing in Brisbane.
Claire created a series of colorful bold oils on canvas and ceramics for an exhibition titled 'Naked Escape' in South Brisbane, Australia. This exhibition came to life after a trip toEurope ignited a creative chord where she would love to pursue her art more professionally. Claire has now had three successful exhibitionsand continues to share and develop her passion with locals and clients afar.
Claires' oils typically show a texturising result achieved by using a pallet knife and/or adding mixed media. Claire's adventurous style of adding paper to create texture or stitchwork for a diverse element is another signature style of her artwork.
Now based in Pottsville, Tweed Heads and a member of the Fernvale Pottery Group at Murwillumba, NSW, Claire and the group do a wood firing twice a year andpit, raku and sagafiring [in between] which are the perfect finish for her sculptures.
